Goodbye Meema…

Chapter 1

Written by ChristheZorua

It was supposed to be a peaceful afternoon in my home. I was sleeping with my meema in our secure home, which looked like a little cave sticking out in the open. It was comfortable inside her red mane of hair. Meema was a Zoroark, and I was a Zorua. My Meema was much taller than I am, and she walked on two legs, and she had arms and red claws. She was not a human, but she was a Pokémon, just like me!

I had been sleeping inside our little cave for a few hours, until I heard a noise outside. Immediately, I stuck my head out of my meema’s hair and went outside. Meema was still asleep, so I could explore without her worrying about me. When I walked outside, I saw a huge light orange dragon with small wings. He was also standing on two legs, and I thought he was going to attack us, but by the looks on his face, he seemed peaceful. My meema told me a few days ago that this creature was a Dragonite, and that they could either be nice or mean when they wanted to.

The Dragonite handed me a letter. “Special delivery for Zorua and Zoroark,” he said with a smile on his face.

“Thank you,” I said, politely. “But, what is this letter about?”

Dragonite shrugged, turned around, and flapped his wings, taking off to the sky in a heartbeat. After the fluster of wind blew in my face from his wing power, I put the letter in my mouth and ran back inside the cave to tell meema what happened.

Meema read the letter to me. We were invited to a special gathering to meet “the most powerful Pokémon ever”. I giggled just a little bit. The most powerful Pokémon ever? I thought that title belonged to my meema, because she was willing to do anything to protect me. She had amazing strength, and I admired her for that reason. I loved her, and she loved me too.

Nevertheless, me and meema agreed to go meet this powerful Pokémon. In our home, if we ever wanted to go into the ocean, Lapras was always there to help us. We met Lapras a few months ago, and she has been our friend ever since. She was a blue sea creature that resembled a dinosaur. She had a huge shell on her back that was used to transportation.

We got to Lapras and made our way to the location of this special gathering. It was on a place called “New Island”. It was kind of strange to name an island like that, in my opinion.

Along the way, we got challenged by a thunderstorm, and even though my meema protected me, I was still very frightened. She even gave me licks on the cheek during the storm to comfort me when I was crying.

The storm subsided after a while, though, and we made it to our destination just in time. It did not look like an island at first glance. It looked like a giant factory to me. Meema and I said goodbye to Lapras, and she set sail back to our homeland. Meema could always call her back at any time.

We made it to these giant doors which opened slowly for us. Meema put me inside her hair to protect me from what was ahead of us. I wasn’t scared, though. I was just curious. I popped my head out to take a glance at what she was looking at. Lots of Pokemon, from Jigglypuff to Pikachu, and from Vulpix to Eevee. I could not count how many Pokemon were in the same room with us, but it was clear that we were not the only ones invited to this little gathering. The room was really fancy, with a huge dinner table containing lots of grapes, turkey, and even some Pokemon food.

“Meema, what is going on? Why are all of these Pokémon here?” My meema reassured that it was just a gathering, and that it would not take very long.

Suddenly, all of the lights in the room went dark. I shivered, frightened at what was about to happen next.

All I saw was a pair of glowing purple eyes. I swallowed my breath. Who was this Pokemon? Just looking at the eyes of it made me feel insecure. The lights slowly came back on, and what I saw was a Pokemon that looked like a human, but it also looked like a gray alien. Two short horns, purple eyes, a tube extending to the back of its neck, hands with three ball-shaped fingers, and a long tail that moved around like a cat’s tail.

My meema growled quietly at the sight of the creature, and so did I. The Pokemon smirked and said, “Behold. I am Mewtwo.”

Mewtwo? That name sounds familiar. I remember my meema telling me that Mewtwo was a legendary Pokemon of some sorts, but I did not know what kind of things a Mewtwo could do.

I heard a Pikachu speak up. “You cannot be the most powerful Pokemon! There are plenty of others!”

Mewtwo raised his arm. Suddenly, Pikachu was lifted off of the ground. His expression turned into one of panic as his body was rising up off of the ground higher and higher. I could only watch in horror was Mewtwo threw Pikachu towards a wall. The impact was not very loud, but I could tell that it hurt Pikachu a lot.

Meema did not flinch, but I was sure that she was more afraid of him than I was. Mewtwo lowered his arm and scoffed. “Child’s play,” he said. “Only fools ask me questions, as I am not willing to share answers by just words.”

Meema spoke up, asking Mewtwo for a battle. He smiled with an evil look on his face. “Is that a challenge?” he asked. Meema nodded.

Mewtwo’s purple eyes began to glow again, but this time, it was not targeting a specific Pokemon. One of the walls to my left began to open slowly like a curtain. From what I was seeing, there was a huge stadium within those walls. Seating was around the stadium itself, lights turned on quickly, and I finally got the whole picture. It looked like one of those Pokemon gyms.

Mewtwo had planned this all along. I was even more scared than I was when I met him. I hid myself in my meema’s hair, hoping everything would be okay.

My meema reached into her hair and pulled me out, putting me on the ground and telling me to stay back, as this fight was about to get nasty.

I hesitated for a moment, but after a moment of careful consideration, I ran over to Pikachu’s side, getting ready to watch the battle between my meema and Mewtwo.

Mewtwo had placed himself on the opposite side of the stadium, still holding a confident grin on his face. “It is useless to challenge me,” he said. “My powers are too great. You will not stand a chance.”

My meema roared and dashed straight for Mewtwo. She was very fast, making sure every step she took was not a baby step. Mewtwo did not budge. What was he planning?

Meema leaped into the air and her body began to glow a crimson red. She raised her arms and was about to slam her claws to the ground, but at the last second, Mewtwo had disappeared.

Meema created a pulse of dark energy that made it look like an explosion. This was her signature move, called Night Daze. That was my favorite move to see from her.

Even Pikachu was impressed. He said, “Man, Zoroark must be very powerful.”

Meema was panting after using that move, then she observed her surroundings. Mewtwo was nowhere to be found. Did she win?

Mewtwo reappeared in front of my meema and grabbed her neck, beginning to choke her. I could not see the look on her face, but I could guess that it was a look of surprise. I screamed, “Meema! No!”

Mewtwo slammed her head to the ground, still clasping her neck in a tight hold. Meema was losing her breath quickly. I wanted to do something, but if I did anything, Mewtwo would go after me next. I could only stand and watch in horror from the sidelines.

I was even more surprised to see Mewtwo releasing his grip on my meema’s neck. He closed his eyes and shook his head slowly. “You do not know who you are challenging, fool. Submit,” he said.

My meema slowly stood up, wobbling a bit, but she was okay. I yelled, “Come on, meema! You can do it! I believe in you!” Meema looked over at me and winked. I wish she would not have winked because the moment she turned back around, Mewtwo began throwing a flurry of punches at her face. Each jab connected painfully, and it made me feel my own face to make sure no punches were being thrown at me.

Mewtwo stopped throwing punches. My meema wobbled a bit more, holding her head together after being throttled by Mewtwo’s powerful punches.

She knew she was beaten, and I could not do anything to stop her. I watched in horror as my meema fell on her back in slow motion, sighing in defeat. I ran to her side, hoping she was okay. Luckily, she winked at me, signaling that she was just winded, but alive. I could not believe that my meema was defeated so quickly. Was it because she knew it was over from the beginning, and that Mewtwo was really a match for her?

Mewtwo chuckled. I looked up at him and asked, “You beat my meema! Why did you do that?”

“So,” he asked. “this creature who decided it would be a good idea to challenge me is your ‘meema’? How ridiculous.”

I growled at him. No one ever makes fun of my meema. I was about to jump and see if I could land a hit on the powerful Pokemon, but I only flinched because of the realization that if I made a move, I would be just as foolish as he said meema was. It was not worth the fight.

Mewtwo explained that the reason behind this “gathering” was because a long time ago, he made a friend called “Amber”, and that because of her absence, he has never been able to forget her. A group of scientists, he said, got rid of her. I wanted to feel bad for Mewtwo at that point, but he continued to say that to get his vengeance on the world and the scientists who got rid of Amber, he is holding this special gathering to not only become the most powerful Pokemon ever, but to rule the entire world as well.

At least, that is what he told me, and a little more information about him from my meema, who was still recovering, helped.

Mewtwo said he had one more surprise for everyone. I could only hope that it was a good surprise, and not a bad one.
Finally! Chapter 1! This was originally planned to be a short story, but because of all of the events in Pokemon: The First Movie, I just had to make it a chapter story. Stay tuned for the next chapter! Hope you like it! :)
